With only a few days left in 2015, it’s always good to do a little recap to start afresh as you usher in the New Year.
Pretty sure, we each have our own way of welcoming the brand new year but here’s a little list I put together that could potentially set you in the right frame of mind to kick start 2016.
Not of your resolutions but of your achievements for the year. It serves as a great booster when you list down the things you’ve accomplished for the year and the progress that you’ve made in terms of personal growth. Do include highlights of the year in that list like travels, or moments that made you happy no matter how big or small.
Even if you’re not OCD, do it. The year-end is a good time to remove all clutter and to start organising your stuff. Don’t be a hoarder! You’d be surprised as to how satisfying it can be and how much your surrounding space can affect you, mentally. You’d feel one step closer to getting your sh*t together and more geared to tackle the year ahead.
This probably isn’t your first time hearing this. But yes, acknowledge it, learn from it and move on. Leave all negativity behind and look forward to a positive year ahead. You can’t undo the past so don’t be too hard on yourself.
No matter your religion, prayer is always good for the soul; to seek strength and courage to take on whatever challenges that may come your way. If you’re not a religious person, then create a personal mantra. Or look up quotes and find the ones that resonate with you.
Time is the one thing you can never get back. As cliché as it sounds, live the year to the fullest. Keep a positive mind and attitude. At the same time, be open to new experiences, adventures, risks and opportunities. As Charles Darwin once said, “It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change.”
A girlfriend of mine mentioned this to me the other day which got me thinking. “The way you live the first day of the year sets the tone for the entire year.” So as we’re approaching the New Year, decide for yourselves how you want to live 2016.
X,
Megan.

That Charles Darwin quote totally did it for me.
